Lab Name :Electronics Circuit & Design
Lab Incharge :Ms. Garima Gupta
Lab Location :B-102
Description :

In this practical course students will carry out a design oriented project work using various analog/ digital building blocks which they have already studied in their analog electronic/digital electronic courses such as Electronic circuits, integrated circuits and filter design. Students will use TARGET 3001 software for the purpose of designing which represents a new generation of CAD/CAE software for circuit design.

TARGET 3001! incorporates the functions of schematic capture, simulation, PCB layout, autoplacer, autorouter, 3D-view, EMC analysis and frontpanel engraving all through one Windows user interface. The integration of the entire project data in one common database accelerates the development process enormously.

So in this lab those students who are making the projects can implement their projects with the help of this software and can see the output before hardware implementation. So this lab is very useful for giving the knowledge of making projects.

We can use MATLAB in a wide range of applications, including signal and image processing, communications, control design, test and measurement, financial modeling and analysis, and computational biology. Add-on toolboxes (collections of special-purpose MATLAB functions) extend the MATLAB environment to solve particular classes of problems in these application areas.

Lab Name :Optical Integrated Circuit Lab (M.Tech.)
Lab Incharge :Dr. Dharmendra Kumar
Lab Location :B-041
Description :

This lab involves fabrication and integration of polymeric waveguides that is used in Integrated Optics (IO). This lab is mainly established for the M.Tech. and research students. The term Integrated Optics deals with the fabrication and integration of various optoelectronic components on a common planar substrate. This lab presently includes the fabrication and characterization of various polymeric single/multi layer planar waveguides. In polymeric waveguides we optimize the Optical parameters i.e. Refractive Index, Propagation Losses, Number of guided modes, Birefringence, Polarization, Transmission and Absorption properties with and without dye doping in Polymeric planar waveguides for Integrated Optical devices.  Thin film fabrication is being performed by Dip Coating method. Dip Coating technique has been optimized in such a way that it produces the simplest and cheapest waveguides suitable for bulk deposition without need of ultra-clean room at room temperature. Prism coupling method is being used for characterization. Analysis involves the investigation of Aging, Annealing, Solvent Variation and Dye Doping in the polymeric films.

Polymeric waveguides has been characterized with the help of Prism Coupling method. To characterize the waveguides, a high precision computer controlled XYZ-? rotation stage is used. A He-Ne laser (10mw) light has been used to couple into waveguide using dense flint glass prism to excite the modes and thus allow observation of m-lines. Each line corresponds to a guided mode in the waveguides that is found with the help of output prism. After characterizing the waveguide films we get some optical parameter. The experimentally obtained optical parameters can be verified theoretically using eigen value equation.

Facilities available in the lab:

20 x 20ft. Dark room

He-Ne laser setup

Computer controlled motorized rotation stage (?).

Multi stage positioning stage (XYZ)

Oven (5000C max)

Various polymers, dyes, and chemicals.

Optical bread board of size (3x4x2.5) ft with magnetic mounts.

Optical bench(~1.7 mtr)  with various mounting stages

Laser photometer.
