Power and energy system

The Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) continues to strengthen its position as a hub of excellence in power engineering research, innovation, and industry-oriented learning through its active collaboration with TATA Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TATA Power DDL).

During the last semester, the Centre achieved remarkable success in research and student development. Students associated with the Centre published 10 research papers in prestigious IEEE International Conferences, showcasing innovative work in the fields of power systems, renewable energy, power electronics, smart grid technologies, and intelligent energy management. Complementing these achievements, the Faculty Coordinator of the Centre published three SCIE-indexed research papers in reputed international journals, further enhancing the Centre's research profile and academic excellence.

The Centre fosters a strong research culture where students voluntarily dedicate time beyond their regular academic schedule to work on cutting-edge research projects, prototype development, and advanced laboratory experiments. This commitment has enabled students to develop practical engineering skills while contributing to impactful research outcomes.

A major highlight of the Centre's industry partnership has been the success of the Train-to-Hire Programme conducted by TATA Power DDL. As a result of this initiative, 11 final-year students secured placements as Engineers at TATA Power DDL, reflecting the effectiveness of the Centre's industry-integrated training and skill development ecosystem.

Through its continued collaboration with TATA Power DDL, the Centre for Power and Energy Systems is creating a vibrant ecosystem that seamlessly integrates academic excellence, applied research, industrial exposure, and career development. The Centre remains committed to nurturing future-ready engineers capable of addressing the evolving challenges of the power and energy sector while contributing to technological innovation and sustainable development.

The Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that provide students with hands-on exposure to modern power system technologies. These include:

  • Three-Phase Programmable Load System.
  • 11 kV/440 V PLC-Controlled Distribution Substation.
  • Three-Phase Power Analyzer.
  • Eight-Channel Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO).
  • Advanced PLCs, Microcontrollers, and Embedded Controllers.
  • Experimental setups for power system monitoring, automation, and control.
