KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR, established the Cyber Security and Forensic Science (CS&FS) Division in June 2020 with the objective of fostering awareness and preparedness in the areas of cyber security and digital privacy among KIETians, including faculty members, staff, and students.
The CS&FS Division actively conducts cyber security knowledge-sharing programs that address various forms of cyber frauds, digital thefts, and preventive measures. To achieve these objectives, the institution regularly organizes awareness camps, seminars, webinars, expert lectures, and hands-on workshops. These initiatives focus on critical areas such as the latest trends in cyber threats, financial frauds, identity theft, social media and email frauds, online privacy concerns, password management practices, cyberbullying and its consequences, and effective strategies to protect against cybercrimes.
To further strengthen on-campus cybercrime response and support mechanisms, KIET Group of Institutions launched a dedicated cyber helpline for KIETians on February 6, 2023. This helpline provides preventive guidance, precautionary measures, and post-incident support to individuals affected by cybercrime, thereby ensuring timely assistance and awareness.
In addition to awareness initiatives, KIET emphasizes imparting advanced technical knowledge in cyber security through strategic collaborations with globally recognized organizations such as CISCO Systems and EC-Council. Through the CISCO Networking Academy, students gain exposure to networking and cyber security courses, while EC-Council offers Certified Ethical Hacking training. These efforts have resulted in notable placement achievements, with six students securing packages of ₹14 LPA during the 2021–22 academic session, seven students achieving packages of ₹17.39 LPA in the 2022–23 session, and students securing placements at CISCO Systems with a package of ₹24.53 LPA in the current year.
To further enhance structured learning and industry engagement, a Cyber Security Chapter has been initiated, providing continuous learning opportunities and advanced technical sessions delivered by industry experts.
The Cyber Security and Forensic Science Division operates in close association with the KIET Cyber Peace Centre (CPC), a recognized Centre of Excellence (CoE). The Centre of Excellence is now established under a Memorandum of Understanding with Wipro and has been renamed the Wipro Cyber Security Center. Under this collaboration, Wipro provides comprehensive and industry-aligned training modules for both students and faculty members. As a result, several students and six faculty members have been successfully certified through these training modules. The certified faculty members actively contribute to capacity building by disseminating advanced cyber security knowledge and skills to other students, thereby strengthening the overall cyber security ecosystem within the institution.
Furthermore, KIET Group of Institutions has signed additional Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with CyberSec Consulting, Dubai, and NetworkBulls, Gurugram. These collaborations aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry by offering hands-on training sessions, expert-led workshops, and periodic cyber security awareness activities and quizzes.
Overall, the Cyber Security and Forensic Science Division, in collaboration with the Wipro Cyber Security Center and the KIET Cyber Peace Centre (CPC) as a Centre of Excellence, continues to play a pivotal role in promoting cyber awareness, enhancing technical competencies, and providing practical industry exposure to KIETians. These initiatives significantly contribute to developing a secure, skilled, and responsible digital workforce aligned with contemporary industry requirements.
