Course Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at KIET was established in 1999. The department focuses on providing a practical, hands-on learning environment where ideas are explored, and students gain strong technical knowledge and skills. Our NBA accreditation reflects our dedication to quality education and student development. As part of an autonomous institute, our curriculum is designed to meet current industry needs and adapt to technological advancements, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the modern workplace.

The department is equipped with modern labs and workshops that offer students direct experience in core mechanical engineering areas. The CAM Lab, developed with Gauri Components, provides training on CNC lathes and VMC machines. In the Design & Realization Lab, students use 3D printers to transform concepts into working models. Our Automobile Lab features specialized engine setups for understanding vehicle performance. Additional labs for materials testing, fluid mechanics, heat treatment, and machine theory offer practical insights. Furthermore, workshops for welding, carpentry, forging, and machining help students develop essential industry-ready skills.

We enhance learning through our specialized Centers of Excellence and industry partnerships. The SAEINDIA KIET Collegiate Club, active since 2008, offers hands-on experience in building electric and solar-powered vehicles, with projects like SUPRA, E-BAJA, and ESVC. The Electric Vehicle Centre, supported by L&T EduTech, trains students in battery systems, powertrains, and EV charging technology. We have a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz India, where students have an access to their online training tool, WIS (Workshop Information system), which allows us to access their all technical details and functional description of all available products around the world including electric vehicles as well. Students got an opportunity to receive direct training on latest automotive systems (Engines and Transmissions), Networking and wiring diagram on E-Class Vehicle which results for strong placement support. Our Woodworking Centre, built with Italy based MNC, BIESSE India, teaches modern furniture and kitchen design using advanced Machines and latest software. Additionally, the Hero MotoCorp Skill Centre in collaboration with ASDC (Automotive skill development Council) provides real-time experience in two-wheeler maintenance and repair.

Key Highlights:
