Guest Talk on “Leveraging Soft Skills for a professional demeanor" on 16th June 2023

In the series of making our students employable and with the intention to bridge the gap between industry and academia, the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences (Training Wing) will be organizing a Guest Talk for the first-year students of KIET School of Management on “Leveraging Soft Skills for a professional demeanor.”
The invited speaker of this talk is our proud alumnus, Mr. Harshit Raj Srivastava who is presently working with TCS as an HR (Lateral IT Hiring). The aim of this talk is to provide the real-time implications and know-how of soft skills for getting placement ready.

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (Training Wing) successfully organized a Guest Talk by KIET Alumna and member of the Amazon workforce, Ms. Surbhi Jain on ‘Path to Success-Work Ethics and Power Skills.’
The interactive session of nearly four hours was conducted on 21st April 2023 at KIET Auditorium, in which the resource person shared her valuable professional experiences and showed the path for all job aspirants to meticulously tread upon.
Pre-final year students of all the branches soaked in the shower of her wisdom and learned the ethical ways of conduct in the corporate world and the unerring usage of power skills.

MDP Organized On “Psychological First Aid (PFA)-An Attempt to Validate Feelings & Normalize Reactions”, On 31 July 2021

It is an immense pleasure to announce the applaudable conduct of a Management Development Programme on “Psychological First Aid (PFA)-An attempt to validate feelings & Normalize Reactions.”, 31 July 2K21 by the Humanities & Social Sciences of KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR.
The galore & glory of the event was consequential to the eminent presence of our Guest of Honour, Dr.Vipul Rastogi, a renowned consultant Neuropsychiatrist.
The demographic variety of the attendees was remarkable as there were corporate personnel from several sectors of esteemed organisations, varied ages & different locations encompassing international boundaries also. A small size of 30 participants made it effectual for the application of PFA techniques.
Professional excellence is a result of excellent mental health The programme was aimed at helping the participants to create a compassionate environment at their workplace and at their family front. It was an initiative to train the participants to step forward to bring a change in terms of a better self & a better society.

Guest Lecture on “HOW TO AVOID THE UNAVOIDABLE STRESS” On June 5, 2021

On June 5, 2021, at 2:50pm, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences organized an educational and personality grooming guest lecture on the topic “HOW TO AVOID THE UNAVOIDABLE STRESS” by “Ms. Ayushi Shrivastava”, a proud alumina of KIET. Mr. Komal Mehrotra, Hon’ble HOD Department of Humanities and Social Sciences welcomed the guest with his kind words and gave an official beginning to the session. Ms. Ayushi shared her experiences to improve and amplify the personality horizon of the students in their personal and professional environment. After the lecture, an interactive round was organized in which the guest speaker resolved student’s queries regarding the subject. Many students asked questions such as the importance of stress management, using stress as a ladder to success, etc. The guest speaker highlighted key points to manage stress such as self-motivation, Continuous learning ability and power of positive thinking. She further stated that making mistakes is a part of human nature, the lesson you take from these mistakes is the thing that matters. Enthusiasm regarding the lecture could easily be observed among the students and it turned out to be a good event with life learnings.

First Session of the Sandbox Series: Sandbox I “E-Portfolios: Shaping Your Persona” on 29 May 2021

Team E-Boosters, commendably and with diligence conducted another skilful and informative event, the first session of the Sandbox series: Sandbox I “E-Portfolios: Shaping Your Persona” with a great number of active participants on 29th of May 2021. The session revolved around the central idea of the importance of E-portfolios in technical as well as non-technical scenarios for the placement ready students. Two of our team members, Vaibhav Ji Srivastava and Priyanshu Goel facilitated the session. They explained how E-Portfolio is a trending and productive idea to showcase one's academic and extra-curricular skills to the recruiters. They both have had a successful experience after creating suitable E-portfolios based on interests. Vaibhav Ji explained how E-portfolios can be profitable in areas such as Content Writing, Sales and Marketing and Priyanshu guided through the pathway of designing such attractive E-portfolios’ using HTML,CSS and various ready-made templates available on the internet. This session proved beneficiary for pre-final year students who have an extra edge of talent. The event was an interactive one where students not only asked their doubts but also realised how it could enhance their virtual image and increase their chances of desired placements.

Interactive session on “The Solution Room" on 20 May 2021

The E-Boosters club of KIET GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS successfully conducted it’s fun and interactive session “The Solution Room” where the final year students placed in different domains including engineering works, sales-marketing and IT in various reputed firms interacted with their immediate juniors. They guided them and cleared their doubts and misconceptions regarding placement activities. They also explained the new trend which has come in the recruitment pattern of different companies because of Covid-19. This session was very helpful for pre-final year students who are about to experience the same recruitment pattern in coming months. With the help of this event the students got to learn how to channelize their interests and what is important for placements

Guest lecture on “Role of Soft Skills in the Real Work Environment” on 14 Feb 2021

E - Booster Club (A Peer Learning Initiative) of the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences organized a guest lecture on “Role of Soft Skills in the Real Work Environment” on February 14th, 2K21 for B. Tech I year students from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in order to provide them with the practical implications of Soft Skills which they study as a subject (KNC-101) in their I semester.
The resource person of the lecture was Ms. Manya Srivastava; System Engineer , Amazon and a proud alumna of KIET Group of Institutions. Mr. Komal Mehrotra (Head- H&SS) opened the event with his words of wisdom. The event proved to be a great success as it had a wonderful interaction and participation of the B. Tech first year students with Ms. Srivastava, as she did her best to quench their thirst of knowledge and guidance.

International Virtual Conference on Prominence of English Communication Skills in Global Context -ICPCGC-2K20 on 27-28 Oct 2020

A Two-day International Virtual Conference on Prominence of English Communication Skills in Global Context -ICPCGC-2K20 was successfully organized on 27-28 Oct 2020 by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences-English, KIET Group of Institutions, Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. This forum brought together academicians, researchers, linguists, business people and industry professionals to discuss best practices, innovative ideas and diverse topics on English communication skills in global setting in the current times. Hundreds of attendees, paper presenters, keynote and tutorial participants, students have benefited in many ways from this conference. More than 150 Research papers were received for the conference out of which 107 were selected by the editorial team and has been published in the conference souvenir. Scholars from Institutes of International and National repute presented their innovative research ideas in four technical sessions spread across two days and chaired by experts in their respective areas. Along with the Chief Guest Prof. Dinesh Awasthi, Keynote speakers, Prof. Jose Carlos, University of Almeria, Spain and Prof. Stephen Gill, Ontario, Canada, Prof Binod Mishra, IIT Roorkee, and other Invited Speakers from different countries, addressed the audience and shared knowledge and rich experience on Prominence of English Communication Skills in Global Context. They not only encouraged and appreciated the Organizing team for selecting a relevant theme and making all ends meet for the flawless and smooth conduction of the event at the time of the pandemic, but also, showed their keen interest in being a part of the next chapter of ICPCGC. The launch was honored by the gracious virtual-presence of our Honorable Director & Respected Joint-Director, with the eminent presence of our respected Head of the Departments and students of final and pre final year.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in association with KIET School of Management organised a Webinar on the topic "Leadership @ Choice" on 4th June 2020, For the candidates of KIET School of Management. The speaker for the event was Mr. Ashok Goyal, a MBA Graduate from "Schulich, Canada" , He is a Speaker, Trainer and Consultant having an enriching experience of more than 25 years with Corporate Giants such as ONGC, DELL, HCL to name a few. The session proved out to be highly educating by keeping the audience in loop with many interactive activities and doubt clearing session.

A webinar on "Power of Moment: Creating Your own Bounce Back Positivity Pills" was organized by the department on June 11, 2020. There were around 312 participants in this webinar, where there were 312 participants registered.
25 participants were overseas candidates covering countries like Thailand, Albania, Morocco, Ukraine, USA, Nepal, UK, Turkey, Philippines and others. Rest of the participants were from the different states of India.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences organised a National level Online 5 - Day Faculty Development Programmerogramme on the topic "Juggling in the Midst of the New Normal" From 25th - 29th May 2020.
A trivial contribution to the nation from KIET Group of Institutions towards the approach to become self-reliant as stated by our Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on Tuesday while addressing the nation on Covid-19.

"Desperate times call for Ingenious measures" In this ongoing era of pandemic where we are facing new-age challenges, our pre final year students were eager to know what is going to happen in next few months, especially at the job front. So the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences called alumni of KIET Group of Institutions, Ms. Rachna Singhal, who is currently working for Linkedin to conduct a webinar ‘How to enhance employability skills post COVID’. This session reinforced the ideology and provided industry – oriented insights to the students, especially in this situation of pandemic.
The questions raised by students were answered by the speaker and helped them sail through the time of this pandemic.
This webinar was conducted on 16th May, 2020 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

A webinar on ‘Mindset in current situation & self-development’ was conducted by Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, on 16th May, 2020 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. The aim of this webinar was to motivate the second year students especially during this time of uncertainity.
The resource person, Author Sherry, is a Professional Speaker, 3 times TEDx Speaker, 3 times and Josh Talks Speaker is a Corporate Facilitator, is also an International Best Selling Author- Amazon, Certified Communication Coach, Certified NLP Practitioner & a Certified Life Coach. The speaker motivated the students and gave them a lot of insights about self-development. Speaker answered a lot of questions raised by the students and made an impact on their mind.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad, organized an Expert Lecture on Friday, September 6, 2019 on the very significant subject of Technical Communication wherein Prof. Smita Jha, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee was the Guest Speaker. She has a Doctorate Degree in English and carries an experience of more than 20 years in the field of Academics.
The program started in the post lunch session with Dr. Col. A Garg- Director KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad, Mr. Manoj Goel Joint Director KIET Group of Institutions; Ghaziabad & Dr. Priyanka Sharma Head English with her faculty members formally welcomed the guest by presenting an oxy plant as a mark of respect. The session was based on “Influential Aspects of Technical Communication in Professional Scenario”Prof. KomalMehrotra showed earmarked respect to the guest by presenting college memento as a mark of respect.
Prof. Smita Jha, in her address to the students, shared the Technical Communication Cycle and throw light on Job Professionalism, Managerial Skills etc. The speaker emphasized on the important aspects of communication in career development. The session was not only highly informative but also an eye opener for all the students and members of the faculty present on the occasion.
The program was anchored by Dr. Soniya Verma and concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Event Coordinator Dr. Babita Tyagi Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. The program was made successful by the coordination and cooperation of Department of HS&S faculty and staff.

The department of Humanities & Social Sciences organized 1 day internal FDP on "Creating Value Culture @ KIET- Preparing You for Us" on 8/11/19.
The FDP was conducted by Mr. Himanshu Saxena and Mr. Shrikant Keshav Assistant Professors- Communication & Soft Skills. The FDP was experiential and was wrapped in fun activities.
This FDP aimed at creating a culture of mutual trust, synergy, mutual growth and learning environment in the organization and it acted as a strong sensitization session for the faculty members.
Following were the takeaways of this FDP-
1. The attendees understood the concept of Value based organization
2. The attendees identified their core values and linked them with the organizational values
3. The attendees were able to understand the role of values for the academic industry
4. The attendees were able to understand the concept of synergy and how to implement it.

Ms. Puja Rohatgi, Associate Professor & Add. Head H&S Dept. and Mr. Himanshu Saxena Assistant Professor H&S Dept. facilitated one day MDP on "Boosting Performance and Productivity" on December 28, 2019.
The MDP was success and the learnings were wrapped in fun filled activities. The trainees were made to discuss real case studies which helped them in understanding how to enhance their productivity and performance.

"One must be a lifelong learner" The soft skills trainers of Humanities & Social Sciences Department of KIET Group of Institutions proved it yet again by conducting a 'Train the Trainer' program on 28th September, 2019. The versatile resource person, Mr. Saurabh Agarwal (Former Human Resource Business Partner- Kronos) delivered TTT session, which focused on upskilling the KIET training team.

KIET GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS organized one of its kind event ‘TRAINERS’ MEET’ on 19/10/2019 under the banner of HUMANITIES & SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT. The event focused on the objective of “CORPORATE-ACADEMIA CONNECT” in order to analyse the skills gap between the expected and delivered standards of candidates by improving soft skills training standards in technical institutes across DELHI-NCR by inviting all soft skills trainers of most eminent collegesVIZ RKGIT GHAZIABAD,AMITY UNIVERSITY NOIDA,SRM UNIVERSITY GHAZIABAD,ABES GHAZIABAD,IIMT UNIVERSITY GREATER NOIDA,ITS GHAZIABAD,NIET NOIDA. During the course of the event the trainers’ fraternity was mentored through a panel of elite industry experts - Mr. C.S. Pandey (Former Director-Staffing ,SAPIENT), Mr. Kapil Raj (GM,Project Management,CBRE), Mr. Lalit Bharadwaj(Former -AVP,NASSCOM) AND Ms. Kriti Agarwal (RPA Consultant & Business Analyst, GENPACT) .

Humanities and Social Sciences department organized a Guest Talk on Employability Skills for pre-final year students of KIET, Ghaziabad on Friday, October 11th, 2019 between 3:10 pm to 4:30 pm at Auditorium The guest speaker was Mr. Lalit Bhardwaj who is presently an Assistant Vice President for a leading MNC in information and Technology having operations in India.Mr. Lalit is a dynamic solution provider and has around fourteen years of rich experience in vibrant organizations at strategic positions like: ABP, TCS, Siemens and NASSCOM.
