Activities

  • On the occasion of the International Women’s Day (8 March, 2024), the Internal Complaints Committee organized a Poster Competition and conducted a survey regarding awareness of POSH Act and ICC. The theme of the competition was Gender Equality and Women Economic Empowerment. The students participated enthusiastically and express their innovative art work .The first three winners were felicitated with Cash Prize and Certificate of Merit. The rest contestants were given Certificate of Participation for encouragement. The intent behind these events was to develop understanding and raise the awareness quotient for POSH Act and women related issues among employees and students at the workplace.

  • As per the Directives of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi a workshop titled Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act 2013 was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee on 9 December 2023. Mr. Dibyanshu Pandey, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and Founder, PLC Advocates, Defense Colony, New Delhi was invited as a guest speaker in this workshop. Mr. Pandey clarified the terms like stereotypes, gender, discrimination, sexual harassment, and natural justice and highlighted the rights and responsibilities enshrined in this Act. He focused on the fact that the law should not be misused due to false complaints. The participants were sensitized to the provisions of the POSH Act to provide a secure environment for women at the workplace and to end the gender stereotype so that women are encouraged to participate in various economic activities which will contribute to the realization of Gender Just Society and call of honorable Prime Minister “Viksit Bharat” in Amrit kaal resulting in the growth of the nation as a whole. The session was highly interactive and enabled the participants to realize the sensitivity of POSH Act. The program ended with the National Anthem.
     
  • “Health is indeed wealth”. The Internal Complaints Committee organized a seminar on “Lifestyle and Cancer Preventionon 25thSeptember, 2023.Dr. Madhu Gupta & Dr Anjana Sabharwal were invited as guest speakers to elucidate on the topic of the event. They are running an NGO “Beautiful Tomorrow” which is registered at Ghaziabad. This trust works on the advocacy of women’s health with special focus on prevention and early diagnosis of gynaecological and breast cancer. The objective of this program is to promote the knowledge of cancer related risk factors and positive attitudes toward cancer preventability and to increase self-efficacy and intentions to engage in cancer-preventive behaviors.The session threw a lot of valuable insights which needs to be inculcated for healthy lifestyle habits, reduce the burden of cancer in our country with special emphasis on cervical cancer and its prevention by using HPV vaccination. Around 500 participants attended the seminar and were proactive in asking queries. This seminar enabled the participants to make informed choices and adopt proactive approach to their lifestyles.
     
  • A quiz contest “GRIT & GRACE” was organized by ICC on 23rd Septmenber, 2023. It was facilitated by team Quizzinga of the institute. The quiz was focused on awareness of POSH Act and Women Empowerment, incredible strength, resilience and achievements throughout history and in contemporary society. It intensified the knowledge of the 85 participants of this quiz on women’s role, contributions and challenges .It also provided opportunity for them to honor the trailblazers who have paved the way for a more equitable society. Participation certificate was given to all and the first three winners were accoladed with trophy.
     
  • The theme of International Women's Day 2023 is “DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”. Hence to commemorate it, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) organized a seminar cum competition on “Contribution of Women to the upliftment of society through Innovation, Science & Technology” on 17 March, 2023.The students from all courses of the institute participate in this event enthusiastically. They presented their views on the topic through innovative and creative power point presentation. The noteworthy contribution of Women as scientists, leading Entrepreneurs, Army officers, Astronauts, Medical Practitioners, etc. was shared by participants in their presentations. The first three winners were awarded with Cash Prize and Certificate of Merit. The rest students were given Certificate of Participation for motivation.
     
  • KIET Group of Institutions observed Discrimination Against Women Pakhwada from 25 Nov – 10 Dec, 2022. In these 16 days of activism, various activities like Seminar, Poster Making Competition, Role plays, Debate, etc. were carried out in the institute in which students participated enthusiastically. This Pakhwada provided a thought provoking and eye opener platform to young generation towards discrimination against women in society.To mark the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a workshop titled Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act 2013 was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee on 26 November 2022. Advocate Vinay Pandey, Co-founding Partner, Vinay Pandey & Company, Law Firm, New Delhi was invited as guest speaker to deliver insights on the theme of the workshop. Mr Pandey highlighted the rights, entitlements and responsibilities enshrined in this Act. The participants were sensitized to the provisions of the POSH Act to provide a safe environment for women and it’s necessity as a preventive measure to harassment of women at the workplace. The session was interactive and enabled the participants to have valuable takeaways.
     
  • An Awareness Quiz contest on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace Act 2013” organized by ICC on 26 & 27 September, 2022 for the students. The purpose of the quiz is to sensitize them on Sexual Harassment laws. 184 Male students & 117 female students participated in this contest. Certificate of Merit to meritorious students and Certificate of Participation to rest of the students were awarded to encourage them.
     
  • “Life is not a competition between men & women. It is a collaboration”. A gender equal society would be the one where the word GENDER does not exist and where everyone can be themselves. The contribution of women and men, Girls and boys is required to achieve this goal as it is everyone’s responsibility. It is essential for Economic Prosperity and social well-being of humans. As a small contribution to unlearn implicit bias on the occasion of International Women’s Day (05 March 2022), a workshop on “Gender Equality & Harmony in the Professional World” was organized at the institute. Dr Seema Sharma, Clinical Psychologist and motivational speaker was invited as a guest speaker to share insights in this workshop. She urged that there should not be any comparison and competition between males and females, rather they should insist on collaborating and cooperating with each other. It is not about equality but about harmony in relationships and coexistence.
     
  • Ms. Jyotsna Sodhi was invited by ICC as Guest speaker to deliver a talk on “Gender Sensitization” on 10 Nov.,2021. She is a Counselling Psychologist and Certified Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Practitioner. The session focuses on creating gender awareness, bringing forward the distinction between sex and gender whilst defining other gender related terminology. This interactive session effectively sensitizes the BTech First Year students to change their mindset and educate them in understanding the importance of gender equality.
     
  • Sh. K.G.Verma, Ex-Director, ISTM was invited to deliver a talk on Gender Sensitization on 14 August 2018. The students were apprised of the Internal Complaints Committee and new rules of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
     
  • A leading gynaecologist of Ghaziabad, Dr. Neera Bhan was invited to address female students on “Teenagers Concerns and Immunization” on 21 August 2018. The talk was very informative and interactive and Dr Neera Bhan provided clarifications to various questions put up by the students.
     
  • Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), in collaboration with Quizzinga- The Quiz Club, organized the Women’s Quiz 2018 on 13th October 2018. The primary objective was to celebrate the Women’s Equality Day (26th August) and also to spread the knowledge of the success stories of leading ladies all around the world. The total number of students that took part in the event was 83. The winners were as follows:

  • On the occasion of International Women's Day (8 March 2019), the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) organized a workshop on "KNOW YOUR RIGHTS". Through this workshop, the participants got acquainted with the right legal tools so that they don't hesitate from voicing their concerns. Ms. Aashana Chaprana was the trainer of this workshop. She is Campaign Manager, JOSH TALKS, Gurugram, Haryana.
     
  • Ms. Sarika Chaudhary, Member - Delhi Commission for Women, New Delhi, was invited by ICC to address B.Tech First Year students on 3 Aug. 2019 at KIET Group Of Institutions. The topic was “Gender Sensitisation”. Students were sensitized about changing behaviour and instilling empathy into the views that we hold about our own and other genders.
     
  • Dr. Neera Bhan, Senior Gynae Endoscopic Surgeon, Ghaziabad, addressed female students of B.tech first year on 5 Aug. 2019 at KIET Group Of Institutions, on the topic “Teenagers Concerns and Immunization”. The talk was very informative and interactive and Dr. Neera Bhan provided clarifications to various questions posed by the audience.
  • To smear enthusiasm and ecstasy, the Women’s Quiz 2019 contest was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) with Quizzinga- The Quiz Club on 28 September 2019. All participants battled it out with their grey cells to win exciting prizes. The winners and runner ups received trophy and certificate of appreciation. Participation certificates were given to rest participants. The total number of students that took part enthusiastically in the event was 65. The winners were as follows:

  • An awareness program on the Sexual Harassment of Women at the workplace ( Prevention , Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013 organized for ICC members on 12 September, 2020. Sh S.C.Kaul , (Lawyer) was invited as guest speaker for delivering insights on the Act. The workshop covered investigation procedure and redressal mechanism of ICC along with legal aspects. It was very informative and interactive.

  • Internal Complaints Committee organized online quiz contest “TWO METRE QUIZTANCE”in association with QUIZZINGA on 2 Oct,2020 The theme was Gender Diversity. 120 students of the institute including B.Tech First Year 2020-21 batch participated enthusiastically. As very well said by the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji that “Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization". We must encourage the environment where everyone is given fair and equal access to opportunities, are welcome to try anything they want to and are treated as an equal. The objective of the quiz is to sensitize students and be cognizant about gender equality. Certificate of participation awarded to all and Certificate of Merit to the first three winners of the quiz contest. The students felt connected and enjoyed at home during the prevailing pandemic situation.

  • A webinar on Breast Cancer Awareness was organized by KIET School of Pharmacy in collaboration with Zydus Cadila Company on 24 October, 2020. Dr Meenu Walia, Director, Medical Oncology, Max Super Specialty Hospitals, Patparganj, was invited to deliver expert talk in this webinar. She enlightened the participants with valuable insights like uncontrollable and controllable risk factors, diet for prevention of breast cancer, early detection of cancer using mammography and genetic testing of breast cancer and shared many myths of breast cancer.

  • Dr Nikita Somani, a senior clinical psychologist was invited by ICC to deliver talk on Gender Sensitization on 30 Nov 2020. The students of B.Tech First Year (2020-21) participated in this session during their Induction program. This session is aimed at sensitizing young minds to think objectively and rationally so that they move towards a gender balanced society. With appropriate understanding and awareness generation, the students can bring about attitudinal changes towards Gender based violence. The session was informative and interactive.
     
  • To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8 March 2021, and proudly recognize womanhood, the Internal Complaints Committee organized a workshop for females on “How to excel at the workplace and Maintain work-life balance”. Lt Col. Ankita Srivastava was invited as a motivational guest speaker in this workshop.
    She infuses doses of positivity with her trademark style. She focused on how a female’s life changes at 180-degree angle and presents itself with various challenges. She advocated the fact that life is like a Rubik’s cube which is challenging yet has got a solution. She motivated the participants to be ambitious and never ever give up on them. She shared that one should follow the simple rule of right time, right place, and the right dress code. One should never compromise or hide their feelings and talk more about what they feel. Women does not need to be super women or superhuman being, they should enjoy womanhood and thereby life and let go of things that are not in her favor. One should learn to underplay when it is the need of an hour. She concluded the session by emphasizing the importance of being confident and gracious and one should always wear a smile. It was an interactive session, and the participants enjoyed the deliberations by the speaker.

  • Internal Complaints Committee in association with QUIZZINGA organized an online quiz contest on 11 September, 2021. The theme was Gender Empowerment. 150 students of B.Tech First Year 2021-22 actively participated in it. Gender Empowerment is not only a fundamental requirement but a necessity for maintaining peaceful and prosperous society. The equal basic need to the masses is a must, as responsible human beings we must promote and put forward this to see the world that has access to equal opportunities and fair treatment. Gender equality is necessary to achieve social, political, and economic development goals. To encourage students, Participation Certificates were awarded to them and Certificate of Merit to the first three winners of the quiz contest. The following were first three winners:
