WHY KIET

Technology Business Incubator

TBI-KIET is a registered body under Society Registration Act 1860 as Krishna Path Incubation Society-TBI in 2007. TBI-KIET is jointly promoted by NSTEDB, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad. The DST, Govt. of India supported initially for 5 years and further it was expected that TBI-KIET should be self supportive. Since 2012 TBI-KIET is self supportive and showing satisfactory growth in terms of no. of Startup incubated, mentored and graduated. This is the only incubator across country which promote only first generation entrepreneurs.

TBI-KIET has been ranked 8th among all best TBI/STEP by Economic Times on 11/02/2011. Till date 89 incubatees have been promoted and 62 graduated from TBI-KIET. The core strength and thrust area of the TBI-KIET is ICT, Robotics Automation, Solar Energy, Automobile, E-mobility. TBI-KIET has dedicated state of the Art of state, 05 Storyed building having furnished cubicles along with internet and 24x7 power supply. Apart from this we have specialized lab facilities viz. Fab Lab, D-Link, IoS Apple, Block Chain, NI-LabView Lab and dedicated Innovation lab with robotics facilities. TBI-KIET has strong Governing Body comprises of Representatives from Government, Industry, Bank, R&D Institutions and Academia.

Under CSR we have Signed MOU with Mahindra World City-SEZ, Jaipur to establish a TBI office at Jaipur with an objective to create “Human Capital under the Scheme “Apni Pehchan Kausahl Se”. Till date 1488 persons have been trained under the scheme and 288 persons placed in a company of related area and also 100 SHGs were formed by women of the catchment area under the project. Based on our performance Mahindra World City-SEZ has awarded Certificate of Excellence for skilled training programme being implemented by TBI.

Besides CSR, TBI-KIET is organising regularly variety of programmes for the unemployed youth, Engineering/Management unemployed youth, faculty members and officers of various engineering / management colleges. Till date in all programmes i.e. EAC, EDP, WEDP, TEDP & FDP a total of 18,065 candidates have been trained. Seeing the performance & growth, UP Govt. also recognised TBI in 2019 under Startup in UP. Ministry of Electronics & Technology, Govt. of India has also approved TBI under TIDE 2.0, a flagship programme of MeitY, Govt. of India. It is envisioned under TIDE 2.0 that every year 04 Startup shall be promoted for prototyping further to commercialised their product in ICT, AI & ML area.

The Chairman of the Board is Head (HI), KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad and General Manager, TBI-KIET who is an ex-officio Member Secretary of the Governing board of TBI-KIET, Ghaziabad. The thrust areas of TBI-KIET are ICT, Mechanical, Electronics & Electrical. Since its inception, TBI-KIET has shown remarkable growth and 52 incubatees were supported by TBI out of which 31 incubatees graduated successfully.

Objectives of TBI-KIET

  • Creation of start-up in thrust areas through innovation and support for IPR, licensing, training and other related requirements.
  • To support and to nurture indigenous technology thereby grooming entrepreneurs to run their enterprise successfully.
  • Dissemination of knowledge and technology through meets, conferences and training for conducive growth.
  • Provide R&D for industry to enable small/medium industries, to take up R&D activities and technology up -gradation.
  • Assistance and consultancy to SMEs located in the region by way of specialized services.
  • Technology commercialization.
  • Foster institution-institution and industry-institution linkages in the region.
  • To train unemployed youth for wage employment.

Flagship Schemes currently operated by the TBI-KIET of NSTEDB, DST, Govt. of India

  • National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations – Entrepreneur in Residence (NIDHI-EIR), under this scheme aspirants can avail fellowship of Rs. 20,000/- to 30,000/- per month for the next one year.
  • National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations – Promoting and Accelerating Young and ASpiring innovators & startups (NIDHI-PRAYAS) under this scheme innovators may availmax.Grantof Rs. 10, 00,000/-.
  • Seed Support under this scheme asoft loan of Rs. 20, 00,000/-. With 6% interest rate for next five years given to Incubatees without collateral.

Technology Incubation and Development of Entrepreneurs (TIDE) 2.0:- A scheme of MeitY, Govt. of India

  • Entrepreneur in Residence Idea to POC under this scheme a fellowship max toRs. 4,00,000/-.
  • Grant for Prototype Development under this scheme a grant of Rs. 7, 00,000/-. (Max.)

Startup in UP: A flagship Program of Uttar Pradesh

  • Sustenance allowance of INR 17,500 per month for a period of one year.
  • Prototype grant of up to INR 5 Lakhs is provided to startups to get their MVP ready.
  • Seed Capital/Marketing Assistance up to INR 7.5 Lakhs to launch MVP in the market.
  • Reimbursement of up to INR 2 Lakhs for Indian patents and INR 10 Lakhs for International Patents for filing the successful patent.
  • Reimbursement to startups for participation in events – upto INR 50,000 for national events and INR 1 Lakh for international events.

    * Startups having women/ Transgender/ Divyangjan cofounders with more than 26% equity shall be eligible to get additional 50% incentives on Sustenance Allowance and Seed Capital.
    * Additional 50% shall also be given to startups having registered offices/operations in Purvanchal /Bundelkhand regions or cofounders hailing from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) or startups working in the following sectors – Rural impact, Circular Economy, Sustainability, Renewable Energy & climate change. Whether a startup is covered under the above-mentioned sectors will be decided by PIU based on the recommendation of EC.
