Induction Programme Organised by AS Department for BTech I Year Students on 27 July to 18 Aug 2019

An induction programme for the students of B.Tech. I year was organised from the 27 July, 2019 to 18 August , 2019. The highlights of the programme are as follows:

SESSIONS / CLASSES ON ART OF LIVING

Classes by trainers of Art of Living were organized everyday for a week. Art of Living means the correct way of living. It doesn’t mean losing freedom and live totally bounded by rules, it means to help you enhance your freedom and life with discipline and humanity. The Art of Living Foundation is a volunteer based humanitarian and educational nongovernmental organization (NGO). It was founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji in 1981 and has centres in more than 156 countries. This foundation offers several stress-elimination and self-development programmes based on breathing techniques, meditation and yoga. One of the programme that Art of Living carries in which most powerful yet simple rhythmic breathing technique is Sudarshan Kriya that harmonizes the body, mind and emotions. This kriya helps in dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, Creativity of mind, improves concentration, patience and self-esteem. It helps to handle negative emotions have greatest peace, energy and joy for life time.

Almost 15 students shared about their experience on the last day. They told how they were able to cope up with their issues related to depression, anxiety, creativity of mind, confidence, self-esteem, physical and mental health etc. Many students were able to gain confidence to face their problems and overcome their stress by this kriya.

MOTIVATIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL TALK BY SHRI. SUSHIL AGARWAL

The students were addressed by Shri. Sushil Agarwal. He is a proud recipient of Paul Harris Fellowship for his social contributions. He told the students to value their parents, teachers and near and dear ones. He asked them to be of value for themselves, the country and the society as a whole. The students interacted with Shri. Sushil Agarwal about their problems too.

MOTIVATIONAL AND AWAKENING SESSION ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP BY DR. S. P. MISHRA

Dr. S. P. Mishra who is the founder Vice-chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya interacted with the students and told them about hard work can take an individual to greater heights in life. He motivated the students to become entrepreneurs in every aspect of life.

INDUSTRIAL TALK BY SHRI I. V. RAO

The students were addressed by Shri I. V. Rao in the auditorium. Mr. Rao told the students about his career which spanned almost 36 years in Maruti Suzuki India Limited. He told the students about how perseverance and a ‘will not give up attitude’ are important to drive them to the path of success. He also briefed about the opportunities one has in the field of automobiles. He answered all the queries put up by the students about the future of automobile industry.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK BY BRIG. S.P. SINHA

The session by Brig. S.P. Sinha was an enthralling session where he asked the students to work hard for a successful career right from the start. He also told about the roles, responsibilities and avenues of joining the armed forces. He briefed the students about NCC, Ghaziabad.

SESSION ON RULE OF LAW AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM BY MR. S.C. KAUL

Mr S.C. Kaul who is a practicing lawyer in the High court briefed the students about the ‘Rule of Law and Criminal Justice System’. He also told the students about other law and justice rules.

SESSION BY PRATAP P. CHANDNANI (GREEN FOUNDATION)

Mr. Pratap P. Chandnani, founder of Green Shakti Foundation took a session titled ‘Ganga in my backyard’. Mr. Pratap and his team are actively working towards prevention of water wastage, cleanliness of water and to stop pollution of Ganga. Mr. Pratap motivated the students to be aware about situation of water crisis in the world.

SESSION BY MS SARIKA CHAUDHARY

The Internal Complaint Committee of the college organized a session by Ms Sarika Chaudhary, member of Delhi Commission for Women on Gender Sensitization.

SESSION BY DR. NEERA BHAN

An interactive session was organized for the girl students on the subject ‘Teenagers’ Concerns with Immunization’ by a reputed gynecologist of the city, Dr Neera Bhan .

SESSION ON EMOTIONAL WELLNESS BY ‘YOUR DOST’

The students were also informed about a wellness and counselling programme called ‘Your Dost’. This emotional wellness programme has counsellors from around the country. Your Dost which is otherwise a paid counselling service can be availed by the students of KIET without any cost.

CAREER COUNSELLING BY MADE EASY

Students were told about the various competitive exams and how to go about them by Mr. Arun Singh. He also told the students to be regular in academics and make academics their first priority.

ALUMNI SESSION

During the Induction Program an alumni interaction session was organized. Dr. Binkey Srivastava, Head, Alumni Engagement Cell introduced various activities of the alumni engagement cell so that students may keep in touch with the alumni of their branch. In this session the following invited alumni shared their experiences and their journey on the path of their career.

SESSION BY COUNSELLOR MS. RACHANA KAKKAR

The counsellor of KIET Ms. Rachana Kakkar explained the students that stress is an evident part of life and that is where counselling helps. She told the students that the counselling details are kept confidential except when the student’s or someone else’s life is at stake.

SESSION ON SOFT SKILLS

Dr. Komal Mehrotra, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences addressed the students and explained them the importance of soft skills.

SESSION OF CAREER GUIDANCE CELL

Dr. Preeti Chitkara, Manager (Institutional Affairs) and Coordinator (Career Guidance Centre) addressed the Students. She shared the opportunities offered by the career counselling cell such as International Internships, foreign languages offered, higher education guidance etc. She also introduced the students about the preparatory and awareness programmes and additional courses available in the campus.

SESSION OF CREATIVE CELL AND ERP

Mr. Vinay Ahlawat, Head Creative Cell and ERP addressed the students to acknowledge the roles, responsibilities and opportunities of Creative Cell and ERP. He told the students that most of the things are easily available for them online and students can showcase their creativity at the platform offered by C-Cell and ERP.

SESSION OF CORPORATE RELATIONS AND PLACEMENT CENTRE

Mr. Arvind Kr. Sharma, Head CRPC introduced the placements, achievements and recruitment processes of the college to the students.

SESSION ON TECHNOLOGY BUSINESS INCUBATOR (TBI)

Mr. Satendra Kumar, Dean IEC and General Manager TBI introduced the various innovative activities running in TBI of KIET Group of Institutions. He motivated and inspired the students to initiate innovative ideas for their own start-ups and become entrepreneurs.

SESSION BY SAE KIET

Mr Tuhin Srivastava addressed the students and gave them an insight about the activities of SAE KIET collegiate club. He told the students how they can be benefitted from the practical implications of their ideas.

ADDRESS BY HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS

The Heads of Departments of CSE, CO, CSI, IT, ME, EN, EC, CE addressed the students and gave them an insight about their respective department and the departmental technical club.

ADDRESS BY HEAD, APPLIED SCIENCES

Dr. C. M. Batra, Head, Department of Applied Sciences addressed the students about the rules and regulations to be followed during their tenure in B. Tech. He also briefed them about the importance of additional skills to enhance their personalities. He motivated and inspire the students to give their 100% in academics as well as in attendance.

ADDRESS BY DEAN (STUDENT WELFARE)

Dr. Ashish Karnwal, Dean (Student Welfare) addressed the students to give them a brief idea about various cultural and technical clubs both at the departmental and institutional level. This would give the students a platform to frame their skills.

ADDRESS BY DEAN (ACADEMICS)

Dr. Anil Ahlawat, Dean (Academics) addressed the students to introduced them to the academics policies of the Institute as well as AKTU.

ADDRESS BY DIRECTOR, KIET GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS

The Induction Program concluded with an address by Director, KIET Group of Institutions Dr. (Col.) Amik Garg. He acknowledged the achievements of KIET Group of Institutions. Also he motivated the students to set new dimensions of thinking and learning.

INTRODUCTION OF THE STUDENTS CLUBS

The students of B.Tech. I were introduced to the various student-clubs and the work they do.

SPORTS ACTIVITIES

Almost 860 students participated in various sports activities. The details of the different sports activities are as follows:

  1. Basket ball: Around 150 students participated with a lot of enthusiasm.
  2. Volley ball: Around 32 students participated.
  3. Carom: In this indoor game 156 students participated.
  4. Football: 12 students participated and displayed teamwork.
  5. Badminton: 170 students participatedin badminton.
  6. Chess: 70 students participated in chess.
  7. Cricket: 220 students participated in cricket.

Yoga was organised in the hostels every day during the induction programme.
