FDP On “How to Manage Millennials Effectively” on 02/01/2020, at KIET School of Management
One-day faculty development programme was organised by KIET School of Management on "How to Manage Millennials Effectively” on 02/01/2020, Thursday. The resource person of the event was Mr. Abhishek Gupta, Academic Advisory Member, KIET Group of Institutions
There were 45 participants from different departments of KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad.
Welcome for the FDP and introduction of the guest were given by Dr.R. Srinivasan, HoD, KIET School of Management.
Mr. Gupta started his discussion with very basic idea of concept of Age Transition and the Emergence of Millennials. He stated that by 2025 millennials (the generation born between 1980 and 2000) will make up 75% of the world's working population and to get the best from their millennial employees, managers must understand their traits and adapt to their expectations accordingly. He also discussed the traits of different generations like Baby Boomers: born 1946 to 1964, Generation X: born 1965 to 1980, Xennials: born 1977 to 1983, Millennials: born 1981 to 1996, Generation Alpha: born 2010 or after.He highlighted factors like parenting, technology, impatience and trust that affect the behaviour of a millennial when the individual is interacting with different generations. Mr Gupta also stressed that Trust being the most important factor affecting millennials.
Further Mr. Gupta discussed that we as a teacher and being a millennial are dealing with Gen Z and the teachers must assure that the learning of their students should be focussed towards skill based rather than restricting them only to book based learning.
Mr Gupta introduced to the four constituents of Trusti.e. Credibility, Reliability, Intimacy and Self Orientation with the help of the equation T=(C+R+I)/S.O
Drawing reference from HBR he introduced all, to the concept of REAL (Reverse Mentoring, Empathy, Aware, Learn) and added that the Trustis enable by keeping it REAL.
