KSOP Organized One Day International e-Symposium on Women in Science on 15 Feb 2021

The main objective of the E-symposium was to celebrate “International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2021” which is celebrated on 11 February, and is implemented by UNESCO. This day is marked as an opportunity to promote equal access to and participation in science for women and girls and to appreciate the critical role of women researchers in STEM fields. The faculty members and students of KIET and various other organizations were part of the programme.

The symposium was successful as various speakers shared their journey and experiences in field of STEM. Also, various funding opportunities for Women for making career in Research in India were discussed. The programme was concluded by Vote of Thanks by Dr. K. Nagarajan, Principal KSOP.

  1. Prof. Asha Rao (Associate Dean, Mathematical Sciences, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia).
    Topic of talk: Sharing STEM Journey: An interactive Conversation.
  2. Dr. Luciana Scotti (Senior Researcher, Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil).
    Topic of talk: Researcher with love overcoming (motivational talk).
  3. Dr. Amita Verma (Professor and principal investigator of Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Research Laboratory, Sam Higginbottom Univ of Agriculture, technology & sciences, Allahabad (SHUATS).
    Topic of talk: Women: Breaking the barrier and making carrier in Science.
  4. Beena Gidwani (Associate professor, Columbia Institute of Pharmacy, Raipur, India)
    Topic of talk: Funding opportunities for Research in India: An Overview.
