Professor & Head Mechanical Engineering Department
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KIET Group of Institutions. We started our journey in the year of 1999 with the objective of imparting quality education in the stream of mechanical engineering. Over the last two decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in the core Mechanical Engineering curriculum and research. We have a strong undergraduate program in mechanical engineering which was started with an intake of 30 in the year 1999 and subsequently it was increased to 60, 120 and 180 in the years 2001, 2006 and 2012 respectively. We also have the Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering with an intake of 18. The aim of the department is to impart technical know-how to students, promote their problem-solving skills, enhance their employability skills and innovation of new technologies so as to provide service to the society. Our department has a distinguished record in both teaching and research. We have state of the art research facilities to support our academic programs and research. Regular interaction with industry through collaborative projects, industrial visits and general discussions on advancements in technological aspects develop an environment closer to the practical essence of engineering. Regular activities are arranged and encouraged in the department for skill enhancement and interdisciplinary interactions. The department runs three technical hobby clubs including the SAE-KIET Collegiate Club, ME-Design Club, The Material and Metallurgy Testing Club for the skill development of the students. The department has also collaborated with Mercedes Benz India Ltd. and running a one-year Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM). Faculty members in the department have excellent academic credentials and are highly regarded. Several faculty members serve on the editorial boards of national and international journals, review technical articles for journals on a regular basis, and organize seminars, workshops and conferences. This website provides an overview of the academic programs, research activities, research facilities, profiles of faculty members, alumni interactions and student activities of our department.
